On Thursday, September 17th, the Office of Multicultural Affairs and HOLA will host a Fiesta Day in the Residential Plaza from noon to 3 p.m. This event will feature authentic Latin American food, music, and performances. It is free and open to the public.
On Tuesday, September 22nd, Hinesville residents are invited to visit Room 100 of ASU's Liberty Center from noon to 1pm for “Passport To Latin America”, a special celebration of Hispanic culture featuring delicious food, music, and more. Liberty Center is located adjacent to the Department of Labor at 740 East General Stewart Way, in Hinesville, Georgia.
That same evening (Sept. 22), the University will present “What is Latino” a lecture on race, ethnicity, and diversity by ASU sociology professor, Jennifer Wyse.
On Thursday, September 24th, at 6 p.m., special guest, Jerry Gonzalez, will talk about the legalities and importance of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) at the Beach Institute in Downtown Savannah.. Gonzalez is the Executive Director of the Georgia Association of Latino Elected Officials (GALEO) and will be joined by ASU student and DACA recipient, Yair Muñoz, who will discuss a recent visit to his native Mexico after a 14-year absence. You are invited to enjoy a complimentary display of Yair's photos as well as wine, cheese, and conversation. The Beach Institute is located at 502 E. Harris Street, Savannah.
